Why are all these people in my house and when are they leaving?

Posted by Allison on February 15, 2010

I’m very excited.  The kids are home for the week as it’s half term. The difference for us is huge.  Back home there are long weekends spread throughout the year.  In the international circuit there are not, instead there are weeks off for half term and  end of term and let me tell you, I like it!  It’s so nice to have a block of time off with the kids and DH instead of an extra day on the weekend that just gets eaten up so quickly it doesn’t feel like any time off at all.

We have another week in May that is the same sort of thing so with easter coming this really is the downhill to the end of the year.  A nice break before the year starts to wind down.

Elijah has taken the term “break” very literally

This isn’t much of a change from his regular look however, the only difference would be that today he’s wearing pants.

Scott came home with THIS the other day.  If you can find hazelnut kitkat in your neck of the woods have one, it’ll change your life!  Oh in case you’re wondering “it’ll change your life” is the new saying that I’m beating to death.  When I was in Paris (did I mention Paris lately?) My girl L kept throwing it around, I’ve decided everything in life needs a little “it’ll change your life”.  I believe the first time she said it was when I inquired about her electric toothbrush….nothing is too minuscule for a good “it’ll change your life”, trust me.

Tomorrow we are going to make bagels from scratch and some potato soup, I’ll post pics as I think it will be lots of fun and filled with blogable moments….and then Scott is off on a secret trip to a secret destination for a secret reason that i’m not sharing because it’s secret.

Canada has kinder chocolate, did you know that it can’t be imported into the US because the toys inside the kinder eggs are considered a choking hazard. Hilarious.

i would have to say the whole “change your life” started in the fall of 2002 when a good friend of mine bought a juicer and turned to me and said, “buy a juicer, it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE” powerful stuff don’t you think?

So is school year round then? It used to be year round here, but when we moved here it had already changed back to the normal routine. My kids get exactly 60 days of summer break. Remember when it was 3 months!? haha.

There is still full summer and it’s not year round schooling thank goodness! In fact there are similar teaching days it just that instead of several long weekends you get term breaks. I like this MUCH better!

Mmm bagels and homemade soup! It WILL change your life.
I’m cooking tomorrow too: white bean and chicken chili and a rice & bean salad and then 1/2 dzn marinated chicken breasts.
Just a few things to get us through the week. 🙂
