Nothing brings up the old page views…

Posted by Allison on February 26, 2010

Nothing drives blog traffic like putting “meat” in the title!  Had a lot of people dropping by who probably didn’t quite get the blog post they were expecting.  Anyway back to our regular scheduled crazy.  I finally remembered that we have a working television today and turned it on to watch some of the Olympics.  Saw a rivetting cross country relay.  Problem is I have to watch every mintue cause I don’t have a hot clue what they are saying and the sportcaster only really get excited when Germany is in the lead or making a move.   In fact I learned something about my television watching habits.  I don’t usually pay attentiona as much as I think I do.  I “listen” to the program and do other things.  When it’s in another language that doesn’t work very well.    The best part is even when they are interviewing people it’s beyond me, they are translating a language I can’t understand into a language I can’t understand. Hilarious!

In my never ending quest to enjoy my German cultural surroundings I decided on some good old fashion Bratwurst today for supper.  I prepared like crazy so I could order them at the local grocer/butcher.  I did pretty good and I came home with bratwurst.  How I didn’t notice that they were super long I have no idea…so they fit in the pan a little weird but they will taste fantastic!

I spent some time going through the weirdest catalogue today.  The store is called Kik and they sell a little bit of this and a little bit of that….And a WHOLE lot of Hello Kitty!

I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would NEED a dual cellphone holder/sock puppet but if you do, you can grab one for E 3,99.

But without a doubt my favorite part of the flyer is the Garten Dekoration section.

Not sure why but the most expensive one is the “hey look down your pants” pose.

But I know that there are some serious gardeners around me, for example this butterfly bush showed up not too long ago just over my back fence.  (wow and look at that gnome!)

Not to rub it in too much, but winter is over. I’m hoping to get to the yard clean up this weekend. It’s raining a lot but it’s clearly the end of the season for us…here is what is left of our last snowman…the broken broom made his arms.  May he rest in peace…..

I loved Hello Kitty when I was kid. Haha. How did dinner turn out? Looks yummy.

I know! There is some weird obsession with those damn butt-ugly stone figures here. Our elderly neighbours have in excess of 15-20 pieces… cats on the roof… birds on the roof… full size dogs, butterflies.. snails… all manner of weird. Good on you for braving the Metzger… On the whole, shopping at the butchers is one of the more pleasant experiences in sales service – usually they are quite friendly. They are in Australia too… that is odd.

Now you need to get yourself some saurekraut happening with those bratwurst… and some mashed potatoes… mmmm not good for the waist line but delicious!

I think I’ll try to saurekraut next time, you know I’ve been here since August and haven’t had saurekraut yet? For shame!

Hey there… nothing like a little almost nude statue to really bring out the beauty of a garden, right?
MMMMM, bratwurst and sauerkraut…now I’m hungry and it’s only 5:30 in the morning 😦
