Not the best day…but I managed to amuse myself….

So you know I go on and on about the brilliance of the public transportation over here. I have never seen a system that works with such efficiancy at in my life. It runs like a well run machine. Unless it doesn’t. Today the number 5 line went down. What this means in the main tram between Heidelberg and Mannheim was kaput. What this means is on the day I decided to pick up 2 bags of groceries AND thought, what the hell I’ll get a box of juice boxes…
Okay the bags don’t LOOK heavy but they were….
but had picked up Mr. Magoo from School and taken him to speech therapy…luckily he had his backpack on so I could use him as a Sherpa….I stuck my knitting bag in there and then listened to him complain that it was too heavy.
The best part for Elijah was even though we walked and walked what seemed like FOREVER we discovered a new bus stop for him to memorize and for Mommy to take a picture of apparently.
The only amusement for me the entire afternoon was this womans pants.
But I’m home now, with a glass of wine and clear perspective. It could have been worse. There’s no snow and the weather was nice. If i was back home and stranded I would have had to lie naked with a homeless guy for warmth.

Love those pants, I think her sister lives in Bremen! Lucky for you the weather was decent…seems like the trams breaking and bad weather usually go hand in hand.

Oh man, I love it! It’s so fun to see these pics and read about your shopping experience. It brings me back to my days in Germany. Picking up groceries was always the worst, trying to get what you need for the week, but not too much you can’t carry. I remember when I was in Gera, and the store was close enough to walk, but it happened to be at the bottom of a VERY long steep hill. So, you know what that means. Carrying all our groceries up that grueling hill 🙂

Elijah the Sherpa… wonder if he’ll carry my back pack up Mt. Washington for me next week?

Well, it’s always good to see the positives in any bad situation. The fact that it wasn’t raining or snowing was good. It’s raining cats and dogs here so I’m dreading having to drag the kids out with me on errands later this afternoon.

Wait…I thought that’s why we had kids. So they could help us carry stuff, get drinks out of the fridge and bring us toilet paper when we run out. =)

I love how you sniped a shot of those pants without (hopefully) the wearer knowing. That seriously takes skill. Usually when I’m trying to take a creeper photo I need to have a friend “pretend-pose” so people think I’m taking a picture of them and not employing my zoom to focus on whatever unfortunate fashion faux-pas is around me..

I too, have pants like that… Nah… gotcha. But my sister in law does and she is as German as they come, god bless her. Because of the cold, I have been doing a weekly shop with the car instead of biking it like I normally do… and the amount of stuff I end up buying because I don’t have to think about schlepping it home.. nuts! BTW… don’t want to know why you would choose to take off your clothes to lie with the naked guy… please don’t tell me. I mean it!

I was just reminiscing with one of my chicas about a similar experience. Ours involved a Thanksgiving turkey! SITS sent me by, and I’m glad they did…

Oh do I know when excellent transportation ‘kaputs’ 🙂
In Helsinki, Finland tram, bus, metro are great but when one of them is off > chaos!
Here in Cairo > always chaos on the ground! Too many cars and crazy drivers and old polluting cars…
Anyway,
have a great Friday! 🙂

Lie naked with a homeless guy??? Lets hope it NEVER gets that cold here. Glad to see child whining is worldwide, I’d hate if that was just a local activity:)
