I wanna move to Asia!

Posted by Allison on January 16, 2010

Funny, a year ago if you’d have asked me where I wanted to live in the world I would have said Europe!   I wasn’t really enthusiastic about other parts of the world. There was an amazing opportunity in Borneo but it didn’t come through so really Europe was the only place I could picture us living.  Now that we’ve lived here for a half year and I LOVE living overseas I’m a lot less scared about moving to a new place.  This is another reason why I love blogs.  I spend a lot of time reading blogs from expats all over the world.  I especially love the blogs from Thailand.  There a few on the right on my tool bar.  Check them out, you’ll see what I mean.  There are places on the beach, places with amazing Bikram studios, places with food that is to die for, places with golf course (not for me, for hubby) and such amazing opportunites for me to expand some of my dreams (like writing and volunteerism).  So I’ve learnt my lesson about dreams.  I’m putting it ‘out there’ I’m writing it down.  I want our next assignment to be Asia!

So you know, if you know any International Schools that need an amazing middle school teacher…drop a line!

Hmmm maybe I should start reading blogs from other countries. I, like you, always figured I’d love to hang out in Europe and was never interested in other countries. Well. Unless you count the Caribbean, which is a great place to vacation. I definitely think I need expand my horizons a bit.

Well I have done the Asia trail.. and yes, a great time was had by all. But I love Europe. Problems with Asia for me:
    No Seasons
Make up melts the minute you walk out the door
    Mosquitos
    Monsoon
    Heat
    Did I mention Heat?
    Oh, and the heat…
Never wearing a cute winter coat.. scarf and definitly NO GORGEOUS BOOTS.

  8. I so admire adventurous people! I am kind of a chicken when it comes to all things I know nothing about so, for now, I like to live vicariously through others! And now you’ve made that list! So, yes! Move to Asia! I need the excitement. =)

I live in Singapore, which is pretty much the hottest place in Asia hahah. At least it feels like it, seeming that its 30C all year. Luckily though, we’ve been having some good weather lately. I miss living in the States and still consider it home, but Asialand is quite exciting for travel! 😀
