Paris state of mind.

Posted by Allison on December 28, 2009

I NEED to get in the mood for Paris. I have dreamt of going to Paris my entire life and now it’s only a week away. I have barely looked at the book I have and I’ve only been to one website. I cannot allow this opportunity to just slip past me because of other things. I will probably never be back in Paris and I’ll regret not soaking in every moment after the fact. I deserve this time away, I just have to allow myself to take it.

When I was married, a million years ago, whenever I had something planned for me my ex-husband would deliberately pick fights with me and make sure that I would have a horrible time leading up to whatever I had planned so that I would either cancel the event or have a rotten time when I went. I swore back then that I would not miss opportunities because of someone elses insecurities. It took me years to realize that was what was happening because I was young and foolish. I didn’t know that someone could be so self absorbed as to steal ‘time’ from someone they professed to love. Clearly I’ve grown up in the 16 years since then cause I’m going to Paris and I’m going to enjoy every second of it, I’m going to eat in cafes and drink red wine. I’m going to go into little shops and fondle antiques. I’m going to take pictures and knit on the train. I’m going to breath in the air around me and be present. I’m going to Paris after a life time of dreaming of Paris. And I can’t wait.

YOu don’t need to study books… instead, rent a movie… get inspired by it! and then afterwards, look on some websites and see what is cool, hip and happening! And then? Bring your book and use it only when you need to… don’t get wrapped up in what you’re “supposed” to do. instead? Just get inspired by the moment and on your walking/driving about, you’ll see something you want to stop and check. How long are you going for?

  5. it’s going to be amazing!!! cant wait to see pics 🙂

Anji! I don’t have a “normal” guide book…I can’t stand those things. I have the Irreverent Guide to Paris sort of the anti guide book.

Becs I’m taking the Canon, I’m hoping to take a zillion pictures!
