Grass.

Oh man this ROCKS.

I came home to a TREE and SHRUBS….six as the architectural guildlines insist….and this afternoon……came GRASS…..

And luckily cute young men to install it…..

After the shrubs ‘take’ I’ll be filling in with landscape fabric and rock…oh and I’m cutting about the same size on each side of the driveway for rock too……

Here is the backyard…I debated going out and making them leave the 12 by 6 rectangle for the garden but then I thought, eh, I’ll just pretend I’m not home and cut it out next spring. (That might be because I’m still hungover from Saturday)

Using cute boy for scale….I don’t have a cat.

Geez, my yard is HUGE! And unlike 99% of my neighbours, my landscaping was INCLUDED in the sale….ROCK MY WORLD!

Best moment…

when I was 3 or 4 years old I met Jill. She was my best friend for YEARS. Somehow we fell out of touch and Saturday we reconnected. Out of everything that happened, including a moment when an exboyfriend apologized for something that quite frankly, I can’t remember happening, seeing her and getting a chance to see her as she is now, a mother, a wife, a grown up….was the best moment of the reunion for me. Oh and the ridiculously skinny bitch in the middle who still looks fantastic is Dee but since I’ve talked to her every damn day since 1974…and was staying at her parents house…and we’d just drove 5 hours together to get there….seeing her was no big deal…I need to learn not to stand by her though…damn.

This is just part of the grads, these are the kids I went to school with since kindergarten at good ole AB….yes, we felt the need to try to drink like the old days….and yes, I’m paying the piper today…..

Oh Goddess Above.

Dear Goddess above of all that is holy. I thank thee. After years of slandering your name and making reference to your supposed love of making me look like an idiot, I finally see the light and the way. Clearly all those years of bad dates were to prepare me for this moment. I gladly take the bad dates, sick twisted marriage, extra 40 pounds to get to this day. I understand the joy you must have taken in all my gauge issues , the glee that you experienced at the foot size issue and the satisfaction at tempering my smugness as a superior parent by sending the charming spawn of soul we call The Flash. I even can accept that you found necessary to add to my plight by doubling my portion of chin hair. All is square with me on this day of all holy days. Today you bestowed upon me an honor that I’m sure is only reserved for your most treasured children. Today you lead me to the mountaintop. Utopia is mine. Today my reunion outfit is complete. And it makes me look 20 pounds lighter (40 pounds was an unrealistic prayer thank you for not adding 40 pounds for my greediness) 15 years younger and about 5 inches taller. You are the goddess of all. And yes, I understand that sending my period was just a little bit of cosmic balancing……

Okay technically….

I won’t be WEARING this to the reunion and technically that is what I went shopping for and technically I didn’t NEED it…but damn…come on I’m only human

Every so often I check how people find me….mostly when the page views go sky high for no particular reason….granted having ‘penis’ in the post title can get you tonnes of hits if your desperate.  I torn between wanting to know who would find me using these searches and quiet desperation that I never find out.

12 Days and Counting…

Well the big reunion is right around the corner. Just a little over a week before I’m plunged back into the era of big mall hair and fancy ass jeans. I should mention that I am not nearly as freaked out about the whole thing as I am looking forward to it. But it has definitely put in me a mood of reflection like nothing has in a long time. Since I’m still best friends with my friend through school (yep we met in kindergarten 33 years ago and are STILL FRIENDS) her name is Dee and she has NO presence on the web whatsoever and will never ever read this blog so I can say nice things about her and she’ll never know….in real life I’m trying to convince her that her crows feet will distract people from noticing my fat ass. You know….true BFF….she is also the person that will be immediately dispatched in the case of my untimely death to destroy any um…items of a sexual nature that may currently reside in my home before my family has to attend to that sort of thing, as we were discussing over at AntiM’s blog. Well we didn’t START talking about it, but we did end up there….Back to the reunion. I can’t decide what to wear…what makes me look younger, thinner and like I didn’t try at all and portrays the person I am today not the person I was back then….you know and goes with a kick ass pair of shoes…with a peekaboo toe to show off my kick ass pedi……not that I’m trying hard.

ANYHOOOOO I’m currently making a ‘back to school’ poncho for “N” *sidebar* I really really cannot wait to post a picture of “N” wearing one of my homemade garments, many of you have asked but I’m just not allowed to…trust me when I say she is adorable and always has a big smile when she wears something she has seen me make. I’m making the poncho to match an outfit that I’m hoping to sew for her over the summer as well….

OH and I’m LINKED on a another blogl…I had no idea…but she seems cool and I like her even though she doesn’t post enough, she posted the best beer margarita recipe so clearly any girl who can mix some decent alcohol is definitely cool in my book. She’s funny, go take a read.

Some like it rough….

Oh sweet heavens the wait is over! The landscaping crew is HERE…..rough grade is being done today!

This is my backyard…remember I have 3 kids, a dog and a big ass barbecue.

We have been wheeling the barbecue back and forth waiting for rough grade to be completed. yes, through the mud and muck.

This is looking east, our yard is actually quite big it goes east to the posts you see in the ground with the official orange taggy things on them.

And this is the best looking back hoe the world…all yellow and sexily moving the damn mud around so that we can finally finish our back yard! And by finish I mean for this year, I think we’re just going to put up the fence and maybe get the dog run done….The house behind is open to us because they have the fencing down while they put up the walls.  Last week it was just the foundation.  By the end of this week they’ll probably be putting up the roof tresses.  Scary fast they are….well except for the rough grade part.
