You Learn Something New Everyday!

Wow statistics always shock me….

85% of women think their ass is too big.
10% of women think their ass is too little.
The other 5% say that they don’t care, they love him, he’s a good man, and they would have married him anyway.

I’m alive!!!!!

Filed under: Life Stuff, Uncategorized — Allison @ 5:26 am

Well not really. I’m half dead. I’m exhausted. I’m one or two days away from frantic. Our current house is pending (conditionally sold) and the inspection is tomorrow. I’m not cleaning for the inspection….I’m going to sit there and knit my socks….dammit…..I am just about to turn the heel on an adorable pair of socks for a little girl (baby girl still looking for pre teen girl patterns for socks) Quite frankly the most important reason to get the house sold is so that I can update my address for Secret Pal 10 before the closing date….Insert cute pic here that I can’t get off the camera because I’m out of batteries.

Good nite gracie.

Sock Pattern…

Filed under: Life Stuff, Uncategorized — Allison @ 5:05 am

ugh. why oh why do I do this to myself. I need a sock pattern for an 8 year old girl…with GYNORMEOUS feet. Gawd, you would have thought I birthed this one myself with those canoes! Any who…..I have to find a teen pattern or something cause I’m giving away like 2 pairs of socks that I started for her and they are just too damn small.

Today is the one year anniversary of my Daddy’s death so you all get a beautiful picture of me and my Dad in 1987 at my high school graduation.

I miss you, you old coot.

Secret Pal!! Here’s my Questionnaire!

Filed under: Life Stuff, Uncategorized — Allison @ 4:53 am

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I love any natural fibre. I do think sock yarn is the new crack and can’t seem to get enough of it. I also have a little (comparitively) cotton and pure wool for felting purses.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Oh, now you’re getting judgemental are you? Ok, I’ll admit it, I’m HORRIBLE at needle storage! Usually I have tupperware but I’ve been known to have to rip the entire house apart to find a 2mm double point needle.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
My mother taught me to shut me up, when I was about 6. I picked it up again when I was pregnant with my oldest who is now 15….I know I know I don’t look a day over 25. I’m an intermediate knitter I imagine.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Nope, I’m a Chapters girl and I definately always have a wish list on the go there.

5. What’s your favorite scent?
Vanilly-ish

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Again with the judgements, does my ass look that big? I’ve sworn off candy….but I do love me some chocolate truffles, if you eat them standing up, gravity makes all the calories fall to the floor.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I sew….and I refuse to start spinning…those knitters that I call online pushers, just want me to stop feeding my children and paying the mortgage all for the sake of spinning.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
music…hmmm…my husband bought be the new Il Divo for Christmas and my teenager bought be the newest Josh Groban. I LOVE Joss Stone, Melissa Ethridge….I can’t think of any others right at the moment….except my secret boyfriend Jim Cuddy but most people don’t know who the hell I’m talking about.

9. What’s your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand?
none that I can’t stand, really I love all colours, but right now I’m redecorating in baby blue and chocolate brown….love LOVE that colour combo.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I’m married with 2 bio sons and a foster daughter. My sweet Jesse dog is old and sick and I would rather not talk about what we have to talk about in the next couple of week regarding her life.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
yes to all

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
socks….lord help me, socks

13. What are you knitting right now?
see question 12

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
oh yeah baby.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I’m an equal opportunity knitter when it comes to needles, I LOVE bamboo for socks but I’m desperate for a set of Option needles…

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
no, damn it. I use my husband, two feet and the back of a chair.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
My simple knitted bodice, sometimes I can hear it weeping from the closet….I’ve been working on it for so long I can’t remember.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
Mother’s Day.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
Not really, nothing seriously.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I have no subscriptions, I prefer to imagine that I’m NOT going to buy anymore magazines so why bother spending the money, then seeing them in Chapters and paying full price.
And as I said before I want a set of the new Option interchangeable needles but can’t bring myself to buy them.

21. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn?
yes, everything I haven’t done yet….did you read the Yarn Harlot with the the_mittens_of_rovaniemi I seriously wanted to run away from my family and devote my life to learning this technique. But I assume they have already planned for the contingency and bugged my car, so I’ll just wait for all the kids to grow up and move out. In the mean time I’d love to learn how to knit two socks at the same time on circular needles….I hear it’s cool.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
Yes, and my feet are huge size 10 ladies.

23. When is your birthday?
April 30 I’ll be 38….and on Thursday I got I.D buying vodka coolers……not that I’m bragging, I’m sure the guy was either a. drunk or b. trying to pick me up or c. had suffered a recent head injury, but I’ll take it where I can get it, thank you very much!

Pray for me.

Filed under: Life Stuff, Uncategorized — Allison @ 3:09 pm

Today I packed away my yarn. We have decided to put the house up for sale and are hoping to purchase a beautiful 2 story house with TONNES of room. We are very close and just waiting for a solid offer on our present home. Here’s the problem. I had to PACK AWAY MY YARN! For one thing I don’t trust that some other knitter may be looking for a house and seeing my beautiful stash helps herself to some “Socks That Rock”! And I need the space and don’t want anyone to truly see the sickness that is yarn hording. So I was doing math. Stop laughing. How many projects to I need to keep out if I can’t get to my stash yarn before the end of February…..and then I doubled it. Everything else is neatly put away in boxes in my garage. And no, I won’t tell you my address so you can “see if you know someone in the area”. You knitters are wily but I’m much smarter than you think….Come to think of it I should have marked the box “camping gear”, just to be extra safe.
